Obituary

Birthplace: Shenandoah, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Alton Earl Snyder, 84, Red Oak, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at the Red Oak Rehabilitation and Care Center. Alton was born Feb. 13, 1937 the son of Pearl Kay (Trullinger) and Marrel Henry Snyder in Shenandoah, Iowa. Alton was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Page on July 20, 1958. They made their life in Red Oak where Alton worked many years as a mechanic at the Union Carbide Eveready plant. Alton was always a man on the go and had a love for tractors and old Ford cars. Alton's other passion was raising whitetail deer. For over 25 years he enjoyed showing off these beautiful animals to the many visitors he had to the house, often strangers who had heard about the white deer on Riverview Drive. When Alton wasn't tending to the deer you could often find him helping a neighbor or at afternoon coffee at the Rainbow Cafe. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife and two sons Frank and Terry Snyder, brothers Robert and Lee Snyder, Sisters, Phyllis Narron, Clara Myers, and Lila Mae (died in infancy) and grandson Neil Batten and many brother and sister-in-laws. He is survived by sons Mark Snyder and Special friend Kelly Elliott of Red Oak, John Snyder and husband Miles Berger of San Francisco, daughters-in-law, Kelly Snyder and special friend David Sharp of Red Oak and Julie Snyder Miller and Husband David of Arkansas, grandchildren Sarah Batten and special friend Jeff Knapp of Nodaway, Holly Ingram and husband Bion of Chariton, Cody Snyder and fiancé Alex Nelson of Red Oak, Josie Snyder and fiancé Dustin Starlin of Treynor, Nolan Snyder of Bondurant and Sophie Snyder of Red Oak; great-grandchildren Dominic, Hayden, Franky, River, William, Everlie, and Emerson; sister-in-law Gladys Clark and many nieces, nephews including special nephew Brian Page and many friends who became part of the family. A Celebration of life visitation and luncheon will be held from 11 AM - 2 PM Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Faith Community Church Family Life Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with service preparations.
