Birthplace: Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Viola Johnson, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the Stanton Care Center in Stanton, Iowa after an extended illness. Alice "Viola" Johnson was born September 26, 1919 the daughter of Carl and Alice (Johnson) Alm. Viola was raised and attended school in Stanton. During World War II Viola worked at Consolidation Aircraft in California. On November 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Dan Johnson. They lived in Blockton, Iowa before moving to Red Oak. She was the bookkeeper for Johnson Bros. Inc. and traveled all over Iowa with Dan in the construction business. Viola was a member of the First Covenant Church and the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Dan Johnson on July 30, 1994; son: Phillip Johnson on November 15, 2000; and infant son: Danny; and a sister: Anna Allen on January 21, 1999. Survivors include her son: Robert Johnson and his wife Margaret of Altoona, Iowa; daughter: Kathryn Quinn and her husband Kevin of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter-in-law: Linda Johnson of Griswold, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Cody Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa; Callie Colberg of Gig Harbor, Washington; Mindy Hale of Red Oak, Iowa; Dan and Anna Johnson of Altoona; Phillip, Rachel, and Taylor Quinn of Red Oak, Iowa; 10 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Carl Alm of Elliott, Iowa; Leonard Alm of Griswold, Iowa; and Darwin Alm of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sisters: Edith Rabe of Griswold, Iowa; Lillian Madden of Red Oak, Iowa; and Grace Lucas of Villisca, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, May 2, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
