Birthplace: Tarkio, Missouri Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Ada C. Bergren, age 94, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Ada Catherine Bergren was born June 12, 1915 in Tarkio, Missouri the daughter of William Henry and Lillie Marie (Weable) Jones. Ada was united in marriage to Everrett C. Ramsey in 1931. She later received her GED, which she was very proud of. Everrett and Ada lived in Decatur County, Iowa until 1939 when they moved to a farm Northwest of Griswold, Iowa. Ada was a farm wife and homemaker who raised chickens and enjoyed gardening. Ada was united in marriage to Hassel Jones for a short period of time and then was united in marriage to Clifford Bergren whom preceded her in death. Over the years Ada worked at Wymans Café in Griswold where she made pies and was a waitress and also the Truck Stop. When she moved to Red Oak she worked for Johnson Hotel, Gold Crown Inn, Johnny's Steakhouse, and was a cook at Good Samaritan Care Center. Ada was a member of the United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School while in Griswold and was a long time member of the UMW. Ada also was a member of the Eagles Lodge, a member of REAC, and a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed garage sales, collecting antiques, writing poetry, and crocheting. Preceding her in death were her parents; stillborn son: Robert Donald Ramsey; husband Clifford Bergren; son: Jim Ramsey; and sisters: Virginia and Violet. Survivors include her son: Everrett J. Ramsey and wife Eleanor of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter-in-law: Connie Ramsey of Grant, Iowa; grandchildren: Terri Zenor and husband Craig of Underwood, Iowa and Curt Ramsey of Plainview, Nebraska; great grandchildren: Jeremy Zenor of Underwood, Iowa and Kelsey Zenor and fiancé Bryan Geise of Ankeny, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Leila Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in the Grant, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
