Birthplace: Oakland, lowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Wilbur Ray Yeager, age 79, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Wilbur was born August 15, 1937 in Oakland, Iowa the son of Chet and Twyla (Hummel) Yeager. He was raised in the Oakland and Emerson, Iowa areas. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1955 and started work for the Iowa Highway Commission. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1956 and served until 1962. Wilbur was united in marriage to Lucy Kemling on August 18, 1957 in Elliott, Iowa. Upon his return from service, Wilbur worked again for the highway commission until 1963 when he and Lucy started farming north of Red Oak. Wilbur was a charter member of the Griswold Optimist Club, a member of the Farm Bureau, and attended the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. He loved old cars, planes, and woodworking. Preceding him in death were his father, Chet Yeager; his mother, Twyla Yeager Hascall; son-in-law, Jim Docker; sisters-in-law: Lola Yeager, Jackie Yeager, and Rosie Dahlin; and brothers-in-law: Tom Anders and Shorty Dahlin. Survivors include his wife: Lucy Yeager of Red Oak; daughters: Kelly Docker of Red Oak and Denise Mardesen and husband Ron of Elliott, IA; grandchildren: Mindy Docker of Red Oak; Chris Docker and fiance Heather of Omaha, NE; Danny Docker and wife Kilee of Red Oak; Maddie Mardesen of Des Moines, IA; Michael Mardesen of Ames, IA; and Anna Mardesen of Omaha; great grandson: Declan Docker of Red Oak; sister: Neva Slump and husband Delaine of Henderson, IA; brothers: Norm Yeager and Keith Yeager of Red Oak; sisters-in-law: Wilma Anders of Brea, CA and Mary Eastman of Omaha; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation for the Oncology Department or the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
