Obituary

Birthplace: Rural Griswold, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Stella Louise Govig, age 71, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a sudden illness. Stella was born April 6, 1943 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa near Griswold, the daughter of Harvey and Mary "Leola" (Gillpatrick) Sexton. She was raised in Red Oak and was united in marriage to Ron Govig on May 1, 1959 in Clarinda, Iowa. She worked at the Thos. D. Murphy Company for 35 years and most recently HyVee and Good Samaritan Society. She was a member of the 15-20 year club at Murphy Company and was a longtime member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. She loved to sew and cook and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; son: Robbie Govig; brothers: Raymond, Harvey, Jr., and Ron Sexton; and sisters: Joyce Werth and Connie Ramsey. Survivors include her husband of nearly 55 years: Ron Govig of Red Oak; son: John Govig and wife Christi of Red Oak; grandchildren: Brianna Schroeder and husband Ken of Sulfur Springs, TX; John Govig and wife Betsy of Red Oak; Jacob Govig and wife Erika of Atlantic, IA; and Jillion Govig of Red Oak; great grandchildren: Jaidyn, Gavin, Gabe, and Nolan Schroeder and Jace and Jaxon Govig; sister: Beverly Semmons of Stanton, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established in Stella's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
