Birthplace: Mills County, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Richard Eugene Allensworth, Sr., age 86, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Richard was born February 18, 1932 in Mills County, Iowa the son of Howard and Ferne (Pollitt) Allensworth. He graduated from Henderson Consolidated School in 1950 and served in the United States Marines from 1951 until 1953. Richard was united in marriage to Deloma Magers on November 20, 1951 in Hiawatha, Kansas. They lived a short time in California until Richard served overseas in Korea. Upon his return from the war he worked for Allensworth Transport and later Natural Gas Pipeline. He worked many years for the Eaton Corporation in Shenandoah where he retired. Richard and Deloma lived all of their married life in the Henderson and Emerson communities. He was a member of the Emerson American Legion for many years. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and woodworking. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother: Robert Allensworth. Survivors include his wife: Deloma Allensworth of Emerson, IA; son: Richard Allensworth, Jr. of Red Oak, IA; daughter: Rebecca Allensworth of Emerson, IA; grandchildren: Leslie Ramsey and husband Jeremy of Gretna, NE; Ryan Allensworth of Council Bluffs, IA; Clayton Allensworth and wife Sarah of Glenwood, IA; and Daniel Peck of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Jackson, Layla, Brynn, Zander, Everly, Owen, and Olivia; sister: Ardith Winnett of Emerson, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
