Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Phyllis L. Olson, age 66, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Phyllis Louise Olson was born April 29, 1939 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of William E. and E. Marie (Colvin) Dobbs. Phyllis grew up in the Coburg area graduating from Coburg High School in 1957 where she was on the basketball team and was a cheerleader. Phyllis was united in marriage to Ralph Olson on April 26, 1959 in Red Oak, Iowa. They farmed near Stanton, Iowa and then North and West of Red Oak for all of their married life. Phyllis was a homemaker and helped Ralph with the farming while the kids were younger. Later Phyllis began work at the Crest Clothing Store. She also worked for The Boutique Clothing Store and Susan's Fashions before going to work for Maxine's Hallmark Store. Phyllis was a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed her supper club and coffee club with the girls, loved collecting Santas, loved Christmas, loved collecting Barbies, but most of all loved being "Grandma", "Granny", "Nana", and "MaMaw". She was always at every sporting event, musical event, and dance recital of the kids and grandkids. They were her pride and joy. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Kathryn Laire; brother: James Dobbs; and grandson: Todd Michael Madsen. Survivors include her husband: Ralph Olson of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Sheila Madsen and husband Curt of W. Des Moines, IA; two sons: David Olson and wife Lynne of W. Des Moines, IA; and Danny Olson and wife Kandee of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Cam Crismon and Kendra Crismon of Red Oak, Iowa; Kelly Madsen, Jake Olson, and Janelle Madsen of W. Des Moines, IA; and Delaina Olson of Red Oak, IA; brother: William Dobbs and wife Merna of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister-in-law: Georgia Dobbs of Muskogee, OK; mother-in-law: Evelyn Olson of Stanton, IA; three brothers-in-law: Robert Olson, Howard Olson and wife Carolyn, and Lyle Olson all of Red Oak, IA, many nieces and nephews including Steve Laire and wife Rita of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, March 6, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church with Al Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
