Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Darwin Clarke Bailey, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Darwin was born January 1, 1936 near Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Clarke and Maxine (Chrisman) Bailey. He was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in the class of 1953. Darwin farmed all of his life and it was his passion. He especially loved fall and the harvest time. In the true fashion of a lifelong farmer, Darwin waited until the boys were out of the field before succumbing to cancer. Darwin was united in marriage to Lou Lantz on June 12, 1958 in Fremont, Nebraska. They have lived all of their married life in Red Oak, Iowa. In Darwin's younger years he loved to drag race in his 1940 Ford Coupe. This car is still in the Bailey family. Darwin loved all kinds of motor racing including NASCAR. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and going for coffee. Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter: Dana Lynette Bailey; and sister: Mary White. Survivors include his wife: Lou Bailey of Red Oak, IA; children: Debra Belt and husband Evan "Butch" Belt of Red Oak, IA; Diane Bailey of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Denise Bailey of Red Oak, IA; and Brent Bailey and wife Chris of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Ashley Schroeder and husband Derrick of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Dane Belt of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Cooper Schroeder and Evan Ogden "Oggie" Belt II; brother: Wayne Bailey and wife Connie of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Darwin's chores are done. No services will be held at this time. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
