Birthplace: Speed, Kansas Resided In: Council Bluffs formerly Emerson Dale Marion Jones, age 96, of Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly of Emerson, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Risen Son Christian Village. Dale was born February 28, 1917 on a farm near Speed, Kansas the son of Oliver and Edith (Harold) Jones. Dale and his brothers rode horses two and a half miles to school in Phillips County, Kansas until the age of eleven. The family moved by train from Kansas to Iowa in 1928 and settled near Council Bluffs, where he continued his education. Dale was united in marriage to Eileen Bruce on January 2, 1941 in Council Bluffs. They farmed in Mills County until moving to the Red Oak area in 1945. They moved into Emerson in 1985. Dale was a member of the United Methodist Church, had a passion for farming, and loved to go to family reunions. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Eileen on October 2, 2013; brothers: Floyd, Walter, Gerrold and Harold Jones; and grandson: Jeffrey Jones. Survivors include his sons: Marion Jones and wife Connie of Drummond, MT and Roger Jones and wife Kristie of Westboro, MO; grandchildren: Stacey Jones of Wilton, NH; Dena Skinner and husband Aaron of Higginsville, MO; Jason Jones and wife Tammy of Shenandoah, IA; Kendelle Heilig of Moore, MT; Ryan Jones and wife Zoey of Billings, MT; and Joshua Jones and wife Jennifer of Troy, MT; 18 great grandchildren; sister: Betty Streeter of Old Hickory, TN; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Morrical of Hastings, IA; Verilee Nicholas of Essex, IA; and Mary Bruce of Hastings, IA; brother-in-law: Kenneth Bruce and wife Phyllis of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Denise Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the funeral home starting Sunday, December 22, 2013. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
