Kay Brown Hardy, age 62, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 9, 2001 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after an extended illness. Neola “Kay” Brown Hardy was born March 13, 1939 in Poweshiek County, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Frankie (Stansberry) Brown. Kay has lived in Emerson, Iowa for many years and worked at the Glenwood State Hospital School from 1973 until 1983. She was united in marriage to Arthur “Lowell” Hardy on September 13, 1978 in Buffalo, Wyoming.
Survivors include her husband: Lowell Hardy of Emerson, Iowa; mother: Frankie Brown of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sisters: Colleen McCunn and Carolyn McCunn both of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 step-children: Twyla Staples of Yukon, Oklahoma; Dale Hardy of Omaha, Nebraska; and Judy Moore of Elliott, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Craig Larsen officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel prior to the memorial service. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
